Welcome to the Sojourner Health Clinic’s new electronic medical records (EMR) system, Osler.
Osler is an open-source, browser-based EMR developed at the Washington University in St. Louis by students, for students. Reach out to sojourner.webmaster@gmail.com with questions not addressed here.
PREREQUISITES:
1. Download the UMKC VPN for your personal computer. Instructions and IT support at: http://med.umkc.edu/VPN. This allows you to remotely access Osler from any device when you are not on UMKC Wi-Fi, including at the clinic location.
ACCESSING THE EMR:
2. After you sign up to volunteer on the website, an account will be made for all new Osler users. You will then be emailed access to your Osler account (different from automatic confirmation of your shift sign-up). Please email sojourner.webmaster@gmail.com with the Subject heading “Osler Account” and request an Osler EMR account if you have not received access by the Friday prior to your scheduled clinic day.
Returning users can skip step #2 and log on directly (see step #3). User Name format is “first name letter + last name”. For example, kroo for Kasey Roo. Please ensure you make note of your personal password or it will have to be reset in clinic by an executive director. Do not share this information with anyone.
You are responsible for the safety of your laptop/mobile device while volunteering at Sojourner’s. Always log out of your Osler account and password protect your devices when not in use. Do not leave technology unattended.
LOGGING ON TO OSLER:
3. Sojourner’s Osler can be accessed at osler.umkc.edu by any UMKC student/faculty member. Feel free to bookmark or save this link.
REQUIRED TRAINING MODULES:
These are short videos required for every volunteer before using EMR at our clinic. Please make sure to have reviewed the correct videos (general videos* + role-specific videos) prior to your shift. Don’t forget to watch in HD for the best quality! Volunteers asking questions already answered in the training module videos will be kindly asked to refer to the videos.
